Lean Teens Goes to School

06-02-2008

In our first edition of Belgravia Informa last August we introduced readers to the Lean Teens initiative being conducted at Belgravia Leisure managed centres across Australia.

Lean Teens was developed in 2004 to address growing concerns with adolescent obesity. The successful program educates kids between the ages of 9-16 years about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, whilst incorporating both physical and educational components to their activities. The Lean Teens program has expanded across several Belgravia Leisure managed centres with classes being conducted 5 days per week in NSW.

In an exciting initiative the commencement of the 2008 academic year will see Lean Teens expand to in-school activities. Three schools and 125 students in the Baulkham Hills region of Sydney will be the first to experience this program in their school environment.

Belgravia Leisure staff from Waves Fitness & Aquatic Centre will deliver the Lean Teens program within the school environment, utilising school grounds and equipment. The program will be conducted weekly for the duration of the term and will be presented to 15, 16 and 17 year old students.

Any reader interested in finding out more about Lean Teens should contact Belgravia Leisure’s NSW Regional Operations Manager, Paul Curtis on 02 9600 9333.
