Breast Cancer Awareness Month
17-12-2009
As part of our on-going support of the communities in which we manage venues Belgravia Leisure has conducted numerous activities to recognise Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
On Thursday the 29th of October, the Wyndham Leisure and Events Centre conducted a fundraising day to help raise the much needed funds for breast cancer research.
The day commenced with the Pink Ribbon Morning Tea - complete with pink scones with jam. The main feature of the morning tea was our Pink Ribbon raffle, which featured prizes kindly donated by members of the Wyndham Community.
In the evening we supplied our members and guests with Pink Ribbon Smoothies, all for a gold coin donation.
The Swim School also was involved with an underwater bin, where children could dive down and place a gold coin donation into the bin.
The event was open to all members and guests at WLEC and in total we raised $734 which helped the National Breast Cancer Foundation fund research into one of the most common cancers in Australian women.
On Wednesday 25th November 2009, Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre in conjunction with Diamond Valley Netball Association held a Netball tournament to raise funds for Pink Ribbon Day. The day saw 30 teams enter in both the ladies and mixed competition.
Over the course of the day, spot prizes were given out, including numerous raffles and there were show bags for all participants. At the end of the tournament, the total raised for the day was $4,426.00. This was a great effort by all involved, especially the Diamond Valley Netball Association who organised and ran the event, including all Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre staff for their assistance on the day.
Congratulations to staff and centre patrons who all contributed to make these events a success.
