Big Splash a Huge Success
17-12-2009
On Sunday December 6th, 21 Belgravia Leisure managed aquatic centres across Australia participated in the Royal Lifesaving Society Big Splash Swimathon. Raising funds to assist reduce child drownings, our squad swimmers, swim school participants, centre members, staff and even Santa made their own Big Splash.
Our aim was for each community to reach 2009 laps and raise funds and awareness along the way. Most centres also took the opportunity to celebrate the festive season and conducted fun activities, BBQ’s and raffles to further the fund raising cause.
With our aquatic programs devoted to making water environments safer this cause was close to our hearts and enthusiastically embraced by all.
To add some star quality to the day Uncle Toby’s ambassadors, Cate Campbell and Emily Seebhom called into our centres in Sydney and Brisbane to lend their support and swim a few laps with our crew. It was great to see such champions supporting the day and they were both very generous with their time signing autographs and chatting with our swimmers.
Look for the final total raised and how the funds were utilised in future editions of Belgravia Informa.
